How to Manage Your Time Effectively
Do you think 24 is a lot of hours in a day? Try being in college; you will need at least ten more to keep up with everything. It’s crazy how much you have to get done. Between keeping up with your courses and getting a job to offset the insanely high cost of living, nothing ever seems to get done. So how do you manage to get everything done, stay sane, sleep the recommended 6 hours, all within 24 hours of sleep?
The key to being useful in finding out your most productive hours. Some of us are morning people. This means that you wake up with your feet on the ground running. In that case, make the most of it. Wake up early, and get as much done as possible. Then sleep early. That way, you will be more productive than ever. If you are not a morning person, you can sneak in some extra hours of sleep. Further, get started on your tasks in the afternoon. You will be shocked at how much more productive you are if you know your most productive work.
Write down the things you need to get done in a day. As you complete them, mark on the to-do list. Make sure that you don’t take any unnecessary breaks because you will need all the time you can get. You don’t have to plan your day to a tee, but try keeping track of the things you need to get done.
Sometimes you have these massive projects, like a 3000-word essay that needs to be done in three days. Don’t wait until the last minute to launch on the whole thing or save it for one day. It will be overwhelming, and you will not know where to start. Write an outline for the essay; it will be divided into the introduction, a body with about five subtopics, and a conclusion. Write an introduction and tackle two subtopics, you can then get on the other subtopics and the conclusion. You will be surprised at how easy it all seems.
