South Korean game companies have slowed down in their second quarter results based on consolidation this year. Except for a few game companies, most of them lost their pulse. Netmarble, one of South Korea’s leading game companies 3N (Nexon, NCsoft, and Netmarble), suffered a setback as its sales (660.6 billion won) increased 14% from the previous year, but recorded an operating loss (deficit) of 34.7 billion won.

WeMade, the leader of blockchain games, also achieved 109 billion won (58% increase year-on-year) in sales in the second quarter, but posted an operating loss of 33.3 billion won. The same is true of Pearl Abyss. Sales rose 6% from the previous year to 94 billion won, but the operating loss was 4.2 billion won, which faded. NCsoft recorded 629.3 billion won in sales and 123 billion won in operating profit, up 17% and 9%, respectively, but decreased 20% and 50% respectively compared to the previous quarter.

Com2us Holdings’ sales and operating profit in the second quarter fell back side by side. Sales were 28.9 billion won and operating loss 1.6 billion won, down 3 percent from the previous year. Krafton also recorded 423.7 billion won in sales, down 8% from the previous year, and 162.3 billion won in operating profit during the same period, down 7%. Com2us’ operating profit fell by 3.8 billion won (66% year-on-year) in the second quarter of this year and its sales increased by 27% from last year to 193.4 billion won.

Nexon and Kakao Games kept their pride. Nexon achieved record sales in the second quarter and the first half of this year. Sales rose 50% to 817.5 billion won compared to the same period last year. Operating profit in the second quarter increased 47% to 220.4 billion won during the same period. Kakao Games posted positive results in the second quarter. Sales are 338.8 billion won, up 162 percent from the previous year. Operating profit increased 900% year-on-year to 81 billion won.
