The Korea Digital Certification Association held a “Secure-up Seminar 2022” at COEX in Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu, on the 4th to exchange opinions on trends in the digital certification market.
The Korea Digital Certification Association was launched in August by the Korea FIDO Industry Forum and DID Alliance Korea.
More than 400 financial, public, and corporate IT security officials, including Choi Wook-dong, leader of Naver Digital ID Business Development TF, Chung Jae-heon, head of NH Nonghyup Financial Group, and Bang Seung-ik, head of Viva Republica (Toss), attended the seminar.
FIDO Alliance founder Ramesh Kesanupali said, “We need to solve the root cause of security problems,” adding, “We need to switch from the existing ID-password-based authentication system to a decentralized self-sovereign identity authentication system.”
Yang Hee-sun, head of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, explained the technology installed in the mobile driver’s license and announced the digital ID business plan.
Team leader Yang emphasized, “We will create a digital ID card that changes the daily lives of the people with blockchain and digital distributed ID technology.”
Naver, Toss, NH Nonghyup Financial, Raon White Hat, the Military Manpower Administration, and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) also shared industry countermeasures for digital certification.
Lee Ki-hyuk, chairman of the Korea Digital Certification Association (Professor of Convergence Security Department at Chung-Ang University), said, “As many face-to-face activities move online, the importance of digital authentication is increasing.”
